The historical Italian newspaper “Gazzetta di Parma” is up for a new total restyling going back to use the classic Bodoni typeface. Gianbattista Bodoni created all of his typefaces in Parma, my hometown, and the Museum with all of his original lead carchters and machines is right inside the School I went to (Istituto Statale d’Arte Paolo Toschi) as a young student designer and it’s part of my cultural heritage and visual formation.
I’ve written a two pages essay about how Bodoni and his typefaces (nowdays called fonts) have affected my life and my career and took him with me through the world and my many achievements in the field of Graphic, Design, Motion Graphics and also Street Art.
From my early days in Parma working for famous Fiorucci’s Art Director Augusto Vignali, to London where I met the most famous designer of the 80’s Neville Brody, to Venice in California when I had my production company Kampah Visions and made a music video for U2 using the font, throught the trip around the world in three weeks for a video for Apple with friend and Director Pierluca De Carlo, to these more recent days and the use of it on my walls and stencil works.

Il quotidiano storico “Gazzetta di Parma” è in procinto di lanciare un nuovo restyling grafico tornando all’uso del carattere classico Bodoni. Gianbattista Bodoni ha creato tutti i suoi caratteri a Parma, la mia città natale, e il Museo a lui dedicato è proprio all’interno della scuola d’arte (Istituto Statale d’Arte PaoloToschi) che ho frequentato da giovane studente di design e che fa parte della mia eredità culturale e formazione visiva.
Ho scritto un articolo di due pagine da me impaginato appositamente per loro in questa occasione e che sono state pubblicate l’11 Aprile, per narrare quanto Bodoni sia stato importante nella mia carriera in giro per il mondo nei campi della Grafica, Motion Graphic e anche più recentemente nella mia carriera di Street Artist.
Dai primi tempi a Parma nello studio del famoso designer e Art Director di Fiorucci, Augusto Vignali, agli anni di Londra dove ho conosciuto e incontrato il più noto designer degli anni ’80 Neville Brody, a quando ho aperto la mia casa di produzione Kampah Visions a Venice e usato la font Bodoni per il mio video per gli U2 “Even Better than the Real Thing” , al giro del mondo in tre settimane per un video Apple con l’amico regista di pubblicità Pierluca De Carlo e che era dedicato proprio a Bodoni, per arrivare all’uso della sua font nel murales di Petrosino che ho dedicato a Franco Battiato.
